Hello Mary Lou isn't the most entertaining horror I've seen but it's fairly decent and something always seems to be happening. There's no gore at all but there's plenty of silliness. There seems to be a weird religious edge to it as well, as the girl possessed by Mary Lou asks the priest: "Will you pray for me? Other funny scenes include a girl being pulped in between two lockers, Mary Lou's corpse bursting out of Vicki's body, and an exploding grave.
These are not as cool as they sound, but will still bring a smile to your face. I would give this a watch if you enjoy 80's horror films. It's not the best, but it's got enough wholesome cheesiness to pass the time. Start your free trial. Dance of the Dead 10th Anniversary Screening & Prom Party
Elana is face down on the theater ground, blood pooled around her and her arms twisted in ways arms should not be twisted. Her left hand has a piece of maroon satin jacket in it. When Lizzy found Simone missing, she saw a man running outside in the same jacket. And this is a jacket both Lucas and Justin wear.
After this both Dawn and Lizzy are interviewed by police, with Dawn cracking afterwards that she will barricade her doors and load her machine gun. Dawn is still trying to focus on prom, but Lizzy cannot focus on it at all. However, she gets word that Kevin will be able to go to the prom with her after all. That perks her up a little bit - but only a little! With dress rehearsal coming up, Lizzy is spending more time in the theater.
After dress as she calls it happens, she gets confronted by Justin again. Lizzy has ovaries and is flattered, but ultimately she tells him Kevin is able to take her. But she becomes suspicious that Justin might be trying to stab her again. Dawn is waiting for Lizzy to finish talking to Justin so they can leave together. But right after Justin leaves Lizzy hears Dawn scream. She approaches her and begins screaming herself, because Dawn has been stabbed! Only this time the man in the maroon jacket is still there.
Lizzy to the rescue! She wrestles with the man to save Dawn. Not a man! The hat falls off and Lizzy learns the truth. Same old same old. Another jealous girl out for revenge. There was no body, remember? So Simone faked her whole death it was her Lizzy saw running , and she has steadily been killing the prom queens one by one.
But, she tells Lizzy, she also killed the previous two girls as well. She hates Justin for cheating on her and - instead of doing the sensible thing and killing him - she kills all of the girls who cheated with Justin behind her back. She is now going for Lizzy, even though Lizzy tries to explain that she told Justin no when he asked her to prom. In the background, Dawn is stirring.
Lizzy is able to kick the knife away from Simone. She is backed into the curtains and grabs the rope for one of the sandbags, hoping she will pull the one that will land on Simone. The janitor comes in, once again, and gets help. Lizzy jumps on the back of Simone to distract her and keep her from harming them in the meantime. Psych ward? But we do find out that Dawn lets Lizzy wear the dress to the prom that she was originally going to wear.
And instead of announcing a prom queen they all donate the money to causes to honor the memory of Rachel and Elana. Dawn has one of her many boy toys with her, and Lizzy gets to dance with Kevin. I rate this book three out of five prom queens!
Oct 19, Rachael Quinn rated it really liked it. What do you get when you mix Mean Girls and Fear Street? The Prom Queen! Seriously, this was about the funnest Fear Street I've read so far. It starts on an eventful day. First, everyone is talking about the dead girl that was found in the Fear Street Woods. Then, there's an assembly to announce the Prom Queen candidates! There are five. Simone, who is rich and flashy and dating the cutest boy in school. Elana, who is the most popular girl in school.
Dawn, a tennis player who always wins. Rachel, who has to study a lot because she doesn't have any money. Finally, Lizzie, the every-girl of the group who's nice, has a long distance relationship, and works on the sets for the school play. After school, the prom queens all go out for pizza together and make jokes at each other's expense and then the next day Simone is kidnapped! They find only a pool of blood in her bedroom. It seems there is a killer slowly picking off the prom queen candidates.
But who can it be and what is the motive? Is it the weird guy, Lucas, who used to date Simone and makes terrible jokes to Lizzie all of the time? Or could it be Justin, Simone's other ex who ran around on her all of the time and is suddenly acting really weird around Lizzie? Mar 04, Fen Fen rated it really liked it. One of the best Fear Street books, plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. Dec 09, Drucilla rated it really liked it Shelves: fear-street. This Fear Street book is one of the better ones. The main character is likeable, the plot keeps you guessing, and the killer's identity surprises you in a good way.
The guys in the book were jerks, but it's the same in every Fear Street book.
I do have to admit that one thing left me wanting to know more: view spoiler [Justin says that he didn't go out with the other girls, but is he lying or did they just make it up to sound cool? I wish Stine had explored that more. It would have been aweso This Fear Street book is one of the better ones. It would have been awesome if the girls were lying and Simone killed them by mistake.
Sep 26, MaddyL rated it really liked it. This is probably the best Fear Street book I have ever read. The characters were very entertaining and the protagonist is very repeatable. The ending was very shocking knowing I guessed that the murderer was anyone but who the murderer ended up being. The only thing I did not like about the book was the fact that it was not that scary. When I picked up this book I was expecting to get freaked out but I didn't. I recommend it to anyone who wants to read a book about murder mystery that is not all This is probably the best Fear Street book I have ever read.

This was one of my favorites as a kid, and re-reading it now was still enjoyable. I have to give it 4 stars for that alone.
I remembered this book vividly but it didn't make this any less fun to read. This is a classic Fear Street book - people are dying and the killer is the last person you'd suspect. It's such a simple plot, yet he recycled it over and over and over again throughout the series. Somehow I never noticed or cared as a kid. Jun 02, Krystal rated it it was amazing Shelves: fear-street. This was the first Fear Street book I read as a kid and is still one of my favourites.
It actually contains real danger and fear for the characters not just a bunch of red herrings, imagined scenarios and paranormal activity that happen in too many of the Fear Street books. I love this book and enjoy re-reading it when I need some mindless entertainment and a quick read. Jan 05, Autumn G rated it it was amazing. I think this book is really good.
